Hong Kong bans travelers from eight countries due to Covid-19

 (Hong Kong): The Hong Kong government on Wednesday announced that passengers on flights from eight countries will not be allowed to enter or land in Hong Kong for 14 days from January 8 onwards. This was released by the Chinese news agency Xinhua on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

 The announcement was made by Hong Kong Prime Minister Carrie Lam at a news conference. She said the ban would apply to passengers from Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, the Philippines and the United States, including those waiting for a change of flight.

 According to Carrie Lam, the decision to impose the travel ban was made due to the rapidly changing situation of the COVID-19 outbreak in Hong Kong.
