Ethiopia: 56 killed, 30 injured in airstrikes
An airstrike on the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia has killed at least 56 people and injured 30 others. This was released by Reuters on Saturday, January 08, 2022.
The airstrikes took place on Friday night at a refugee camp in the northwestern city of Dedebit, Reuters quoted two humanitarian officials as saying. Tigray is near the border with Eritrea. The two officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, added that the death toll had also been confirmed by local authorities.
The Ethiopian government has not yet commented on the airstrikes on Tigray, where government forces have been waging a war against the region's armed rebels since November 2020.
