 MANILA (Reuters) - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte warned on Thursday that those who have not been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine could be arrested if they do not comply. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated during the first three months of this year. This was released by Reuters on Friday morning, January 7, 2022.

 In a message to the nation on Thursday, Duterte urged all Filipino community leaders to look closely at those who have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine and to ensure that They stay in the house and do not go out. The Filipino strongman stressed that if anyone disobeyed the order and still managed to get out of the house even though he had not been vaccinated, the authorities could arrest him.

 The Philippine president's crackdown comes after the COVID-19 case was seen to be on the rise in the island nation. On Thursday, January 6, 2022, the Philippines announced 17,220 cases, the highest number since September 26, 2021.

 To date, the Philippines has a total of 2.88 million COVID-19 cases, of which more than 51,700 have died and 2.78 million have been cured. For the COVID-19 vaccine, the Philippines received 111 million doses, of which 51.1 million (46.6% of the total population) received all doses.
