Twelve people, including eight children, were killed in a building fire in Philadelphia, USA.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Twelve people were killed and two were injured Wednesday in a fire in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, police said. Occurred in a three-story apartment building. This is according to the release by CGTN on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
The Philadelphia Fire Department said firefighters arrived at the scene at 6:40 a.m. (local time) and saw black smoke billowing from the second floor. The fire was contained within 50 minutes of their arrival.
According to Philadelphia Deputy Police Chief Craige, eight of the 12 people killed in the blaze were children. Mr Craige said the cause of the fire was under investigation and that there were four fire alarms in the building, but all of them did not work.
