Royal Government of Cambodia Establishes Siem Reap-Angkor Tourism Management and Development Commission
(Phnom Penh): The Royal Government of Cambodia has established the Siem Reap-Angkor Tourism Management and Development Committee to coordinate and monitor the development of Siem Reap tourism destinations by implementing the Siem Reap Tourism Development Master Plan 2021-2035 to increase competitiveness. And ensure sustainability. This is according to the sub-decree obtained by Fresh News on January 4, 2022.
According to this sub-decree, the management and development of tourism in priority tourist areas must have a separate tourism destination management unit under the management of C. អ. ទ. ស. Separate tourism destination management units have been established in the following six areas:
1: Phnom Kulen National Park
2: Tourist area around Banteay Srei Protected Area
3: Angkor Heritage Site
4: Siem Reap city area
5: Tonle Sap Lake area
6: New Siem Reap tourist area.
The Siem Reap-Angkor Tourism Management and Development Commission is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Aun Porn Moniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance, and has three Vice-Chairmen, Mr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, as Permanent Vice-Chairman, as well as the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts and the Minister of Environment, Vice President.
