(Phnom Penh): The new President of Vietnam Nguyen Suon Phuc arrived in Cambodia at 8:30 am on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 for a two-day state visit to Cambodia. December 21-22, 2021.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, during the state visit, Mr. Nguyen Suon Phuc will pay homage to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni at the Tev Vinich Hall and pay homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, the Queen Mother of Cambodia, is the most revered figure at the Kantha Bopha Palace in the Royal Palace.
In addition, Mr. Nguyen Suon Phuc will have a separate meeting with Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdey Say Chhum, President of the Senate, Samdech Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, and Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia. After the working meeting with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, some important documents will be signed.
The President of Vietnam will preside with Samdech Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new administration building at the National Assembly.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers that Nguyen Suon Fuc's state visit to Cambodia will further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations in the spirit of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and peace. Long-term stability between the two countries for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.
Nguyen Suon Phuc was elected President of the National Assembly by Nguyen Phu Trong on Monday, April 5, 2021. Mr. Nguyen Suon Phuc served as Prime Minister from 2016 to 2021.
It should be noted that Cambodia and Vietnam were connected on June 24, 1967, but this relationship was severed in March 1970. In January 1979, after Cambodia was liberated from the Pol Pot genocidal regime, relations between Cambodia and Vietnam re-established. In March 2005, the two countries' relations were upgraded to "traditional good-neighborly relations and strong, long-lasting and comprehensive cooperation in all fields."
Cambodia and Vietnam have a total land area of 1,270 km, with 84% of the border posts equal to 1,045 km.
Through this good relationship, the leaders of Cambodia and Vietnam often exchanged trips. Nguyen Suon Phuc also visited Cambodia in April 2017 when he was Prime Minister of Vietnam.
Based on this good cooperation, Cambodia and Vietnam have always supported each other on various difficulties. Especially during the 19 epidemic of Kovid, both countries supported each other in the fight against Kovid 19. Vietnam has provided about $ 320,000, plus a series of medical equipment to Cambodia. Separately, Cambodia also provided a total budget of about 350,000 dollars and other medical equipment to Vietnam.
Trade and investment is also a priority that the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of Vietnam attach great importance to and have always been committed to promoting trade and investment between the two countries. In 2020, trade between the two countries reached more than 5 billion dollars, and in the first eight months of 2021 reached nearly 7 billion dollars.
In terms of investment, from 1994 to September 2021, Vietnamese investment in Cambodia was 88 projects with a capital of about 2.56 billion US dollars. For the first 10 months of 2021, Vietnamese investment in Cambodia amounted to about 89.4 million US dollars.
