Minister Thong Khon: Organizing a Golf Event as an Opportunity for Athletes to Train for the 2023 SEA Games

 (Phnom Penh): Mr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, stated that the organization of the golf event as well as the celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the political victory is an opportunity that allows sports. The national team has trained to prepare to go out to participate in international competitions and to advance to the 2023 SEA Games.

Mr. Thong Khon said this on the occasion of his speech at the opening ceremony of the "5th Samdech Techo Prime Minister Award" golf tournament held at Vattanac Golf Resort this morning. December 25, 2021 under the high presidency of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

At the same time, Mr. Thong Khon also thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for allowing the Commission to hand over the remaining money from the expenses of this event to the Golf Federation of Cambodia for the benefit of strengthening the Federation. Including training of nursery players and going to competitions abroad.

The Minister further stated that the Prime Minister's win-win policy has completely ended Cambodia's civil war, and this policy has brought peace and development in all areas throughout the country.

 Since 1998, only 23 years under the shadow of peace, socio-economic achievements have flourished, including unprecedented achievements before the war, such as dams, roads, bridges. Mekong River, Sekong River, high-rise buildings in the city, flyovers, clean roads in accordance with international standards in major destinations such as Sihanoukville, Siem Reap, the new stadium, the new big and modern Techo heritage in Cambodia.

 Mr. Thong Khon added that during the phase of the fight against Kovid-19, even though Cambodia closed the event on February 20, Samdech Techo also reminded and warned that the three measures not to protect and live in the new normal path is still necessary. Continued to adhere to daily life together to be able to function socio-economically and prevent the spread of Kovid-19. In that, the promotion of the third dose must be implemented as soon as planned, and Samdech Techo Prime Minister also highly recommended to consider the fourth dose.

The head of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia said that with 495 days to go, the SEA Games 2023 and the journey to the 2023 SEA Games are under the slogan "Sports live in peace." It is true that without peace, sports cannot have the opportunity to develop.
